“O sing unto the Lord a new song; sing unto the Lord, all the earth!”
When early citizens of Cooperstown gathered on January 1, 1811 to incorporate the Parish of Christ Church, they took special care to appoint two of their number to “lead the singing.” Music has been an essential part of the life of this congregation ever since. Under the able direction of Christian J. Broughton, the Parish Choir continues to lead the singing in services each Sunday. Our choir’s repertoire includes classics of the Anglican choral tradition and some of the best of contemporary church music.
Additionally, Christ Church is blessed by the musical resources of our wider community. Special guest choirs, skilled visiting musicians, and (in the summer months) soloists from the Glimmerglass Young Artists program all find occasion here to share their gifts and glorify God in song.
